Hot Off the Press - Beneteau Announces Three New Models
Beneteau has just announced the release of three new models in the Oceanis range.
The Oceanis has been reinvented with the introduction of the 41, 45 and 48 models – the product of two long years of hard work by Beneteau’s research and development team.
These modern yachts show a noticeable development in yacht design, centred on a high-performing and comfortable new generation hull.
Eligible for Dock & Go technology, the three yachts are a distillation of a series of innovations in both navigation and comfort which, until a few years ago, were reserved for the world of Super-Yachts.
The new range incorporates beauty and functionality, with a chart table that converts to a living table, a bilge increasing overall comfort and an open bathing platform making access to the sea easier.
With its 4 layouts, it is a yacht that adapts to all requirements: from going round the world with 2 or 3 cabins to accommodating large families with 4 double cabins.
Stay tuned for more information to come from Ensign Ship Brokers.
With just one hand, Dock & Go gives you intuitive and enjoyable handling thanks to the use of the cross-shaped joystick at the helm.A 360° pivoting saildrive base is synchronised with the bowthruster through a computer. The helm automatically stays blocked during the manoeuvre. Moving 90° to port or starboard, forwards, astern and turning on the spot allows you to move the boat in a restricted space and to access the most complicated places in the harbour.
The Oceanis 46, Oceanis 50 and Sense 50’ may be equipped with the DOCK & GO option.

Ensign also provided a bit of novelty at the show with the Ensign Mini Beneteau Regatta.
We held races with ten fully-functional sail boats. We hope you all had a chance to have a race!

May 2011 Australian Launch of the new Beneteau First 30
The First 30 has arrived in Australia at the
Ensign Ship Brokers docks !!!
The latest offering from industry leaders Beneteau is unlike any other boat on the market. The First 30 delivers the best of both worlds as a cruiser sailboat with a higher emphasis on the racing aspects, yet substantially equipped for comfortable cruising.
Collaborations with two respected names in the industry, naval architect Juan Kouyoumdjian and sailor Michel Desjoyeaux have resulted in Beneteau delivering in both style and speed.
Juan Kouyoumdjian is well-known for designing race-winning yachts, most recently for the last two Volvo Ocean Races. His expertise has taken the First 30 to another level.
Sailor, Michel Desjoyeaux is the winner of the English single-handed transatlantic race, winner of the Route du Rhum, three times winner or the Solitaire du Figaro, and twice-winner of the Vendee Globe. His out of the ordinary ability to dream up boats that will go on to win have made a unique, unparalleled contribution to the First 30.
The new First 30 unites the best of naval architecture in the same yacht, with the addition of comfort.

An international jury with journalists from the leading sailing magazines in Europe is going to decide who wins the awards for 2010/2011 at the Boot in Duesseldorf, Germany, which runs from January 22 to 30.

2010/12/17 Premiere of the new Beneteau Sense 43 at the Paris Boat Show
It was the place to be: As the snowflakes swirled in the skies above Paris, nearly 300 guests on the Beneteau stand embarked on a unique voyage as part of nautical night and the premiere of the new Beneteau Sense 43 on Friday 3 December.
The powerful and much-applauded presentation segued into a velvet-smooth voyage to a world of sublime jazz and the rich voice of Serena Fisseau. Emotion swept through Hall 1 of the Porte de Versailles exhibition centre. It floated as light as air, made time stand still and breathed life into the souls of the boats perched high on their cradles.
Looking back after the end of the Paris Boat Show (Nautic), the Sense 43 was a big success - there was a huge line up at the bottom of the stairs of the new Sense 43, with the public waiting to inspect the boat. Everywhere there were people talking about the Sense: About the modernity of the concept, the space inside, the dock and go system, the beautiful lines of the boat, the spacious cockpit and the ingenious little design ideas everywhere throughout the boat.
"I was impressed as well. The first feeling when you walk on the boat is the space in the nonconformist cockpit, in contrast to the traditional layout. There is more different living areas rather than one big cockpit. A really clever back cockpit with access to the sea and lifting up helm seats; its opening transom, making a clear and unbeatable acces to the sea. Cockpit table and seat are also well thought through, allowing people to use the table as a table or as a bench. No ropes in the way, it looks really easy to handle by two, or even alone while your friends are in the cockpit chilling out," says Florian Coroller from Ensign Yachts.
"The deck layout gives you the impression to be on a much bigger boat, and a higher class one too. It has a lot of high quality items, and the flush hatches and the teak deck for this version stand for a high class yacht."
The inside is where the sense concept shows itself: Only three small steps to get into a huge inside, full of light thanks to hatches (as big as permitted by CE rules) surrounding the visitor, giving the possibility to see at 360 degrees.
"You really don't feel like in a boat any more, and you need a bit of time to realise that it's a 43 foot from Beneteau. Like on the deck, lot of high quality parts, from the cupboard inches to the lights, finishing and adjustment of the floors. Like on the Sense 50, lots of good and clever systems, like a retractable tv and folding bench in the middle "cupboard", a chart table seat... Really clever and well done. Two cabins and one head version with the possibility to get another third cabin for the skipper, that's all you need in the 43."
"I was really impressed by the boat and can't wait to check it out the under sail performance. If it's in the same trend as the Sense 50, we will have the boat of the year."

2010/11/08 World premier of the new Sense 43 at the Paris Boat Show in December
Live the magic of the sea! The second model of Beneteau’s latest sailing range SENSE, the SENSE 43, will celebrate its world premier at the Paris Boat Show in December.
SENSE stands for a new, hitherto unseen quality of life on board, combined with an impeccable seaworthiness, and meets the demands of the most hedonistic sailors.
Fitted with two spacious cabins forward, the SENSE 43 retains the proportions, layout framework and characteristics of the first model, the SENSE 50.
Life on board is organised around three main living areas, from stem to stern:
A living space on the sea with an extra-large cockpit and clear access to the water.
An interior living space conductive to shared moments between the vast saloon and galley.
Finally, life after dark at the forward end of the boat offers two cabins and a head compartment.
Light, spacious, flowing, and close to the water, this cruiser is built with a well thought out hull to give a particularly reduced angle of heel, guaranteeing not only great comfort but also good speed.
The SENSE 43 provides owners and their guests with exceptional comfort and quality of life on board, through a pioneering cockpit design, an innovative deck plan and interior beauty that reflects the latest design trends.
For more information about the SENSE range please feel free to contact our team or visit the official Beneteau website.
2010/11/04 QLD Beneteau Cup & French Yacht Challenge Results
Consistent sailing in the light
conditions of this weekend’s Ensign Yachts Queensland Beneteau Cup has
delivered Mooloolaba’s Gary McCarthy and his Brilliant Pearl team their first
regatta win.
A second in the passage race yesterday, a
disappointing fourth in the first windward/leeward race today, but then a firm
third place in the second race later in the day cemented the team’s place on
the podium.
'The second race today was good. We had a great start
and an excellent first work as the breeze steadied to seven knots,' McCarthy
said. The only trouble in the race for the team was when crewman, Sue
Rasmussen, fell down the front hatch at the end of the second spinnaker hoist
and hurt her ribs.
'Our new Quantum sails worked really well in the
conditions. I also feel very proud of my team and what they achieved this
weekend', an excited McCarthy said on hearing the overall results.
Finishing in second overall was Mark Hipgrave’s 36
footer, The Healer. After a fifth and then a sixth, their first place in
today’s final race ensured they moved right up the ladder.
'The first race was very tricky. At the top mark it
was five knots of wind with one knot of tide against us. In the second race it
was pretty straight forward. The only hiccup was we put the spinnaker up
sideways. I have only myself to blame as I packed it. The courses were good and
it was great weekend.
BENETEAU
has just released this video of the new FIRST 30, which was named
European Boat of the Year and was enthusiastically received by the
press and the international sailing community alike.
It
is designed by Juan Kouyoumdjian, talented designer from the America’s
Cup and the Volvo Ocean Race, and Michel Desjoyeaux, technical
consultant, a sailor with a unique winning record and skipper of the
monohull Foncia.
The First 30 is
back in force, 30 years after its predecessor! It combines the best of
naval architecture and comfort in the same yacht.

2010/10/25 “Bataille de la Beneteaus et Jeanneaus”: Great line-up at the QLD Beneteau Cup & French Yacht Challenge
French yacht owners’ pride will be on the line on Saturday 30 October as they tussle for the title of grand champion in the Queensland French Yacht Challenge.
Hosted by Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron,
a fleet of 30 Beneteaus and Jenneaus will contest the title in a 19
mile passage race on the waters of Moreton Bay, with both spinnaker and
non-spinnaker divisions.
Also up for grabs is the inaugural Jeanneau Yachting Queensland Trophy which will be awarded to the skipper and crew who obviously have the
most fun on the day. There is also a rumor that one event sponsor will
be offering an additional award for each Jeanneau yacht that finishes
in front of a Beneteau. So, the challenge is on!
Leading
the Beneteaus will be the new 50 footer The Matrix, owned by event
organisers, Jane Virtue and David Waller. Finally hitting the water
last Friday, the Matrix team has been flat out getting the boat ready.
Giving this team an added advantage over other Beneteaus will be Ullman
sailmakers Yancey Smith and brother Bucky, the 2009 Etchells class
world champion tactician. Also joining them will be 2010 Solo Trans
Tasman competitor and monohull division winner, Trevor Hill.
On
board the First 34.7 Brilliant Pearl from Mooloolaba will be another
2010 Solo Trans Tasman sailor, Jenny Fitzgibbon. Fitzgibbon, who did a
superb job to win the IRC division in the Tasman race, will be adding
her local knowledge to this team’s challenge on the Ensign Yachts Queensland Beneteau Cup.
Leading
the Jeanneau fleet will be Wynnum Manly Yacht Club’s Ian Heathwood with
his 52 footer, Sun Odyssey, and Bruce Moore’s 45 footer representing
the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia.
While
the seven Jeanneaus will be battling themselves and their Beneteau
foes, the Beneteau fleet will also have their eyes on the weekend prize
of the Ensign Yachts Queensland Beneteau Cup. Saturday’s passage race
will give this fleet the chance to stretch out and prepare for the
shorter races the next day.
Sunday will see the 20 or more Beneteaus contest two windward/leewards races on the bay.
Delighted
by the number and quality of entries in this year’s event, Virtue said
she was looking forward to a weekend of great racing, good French
camaraderie and fun. “Pour le vainqueur va le butin,” declared Virtue.
The Sailing Instructions are available for download from the RQYS website. For more late entries, contact event organiser, Jane Virtue on jane.virtue[at]bigpond.com.
